African slaves would use music to communicate to each other. They would sing songs everyday, the songs would talk about hope, freedom and they would also sing about there religion. The Africans would sing all these songs to encourage each other to not lose hope. Harriet Tubman and other slaves would talk to each other through music to make a strategy to escape. They would go from southern America and go up north to the other state that would keep them safe. Harriet Tubman would sneak other slave through the underground rail road. One of the many songs were Steal Away. This music is still evident today because there is still racism in America. Last year there was the Black Lives Matter movement. This movement actually started many years ago but it came back last year with the George Floyd situation. Some artist like Kayne West use there music today to talk about the racism in America.
