Roturua lakes

Rotorua lakes:

The water in the Rotorua lakes has been getting worse over the past few decades due to nutrients causing higher phosphorus levels and algal blooms. The land around the lake has been farmed since the time of the European settlers which caused the nutrients to seep into the lakes because of their farming. Much of the water has deteriorated since then it has become toxic.

Back in 1990 EnvBOP started a program to routinely monitor the lakes. Then by 2006, widespread concern led to an investigation by the New Zealand Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment. The results of this investigation convinced the  New Zealand Government to pay $72m towards $144m to help to improve the damage that has been done to these lakes. Also during 2006 the Government of New Zealand signed an agreement with the Te Arawa Moari Trust Board for the local Maori people to take over ownership of the Rotorua lake beds but EnvBOP will keep their managerial position. 

If we don’t clean the lakes out now it then will become a bigger problem for our future generations to deal with. It could cause problems to the native plants, wildlife and ecosystems around the lakes.

English - SEXXXY paragraph

In English we have been working on SEXXXY paragraphs for the movie wonder. 

Here is mine, Hope you enjoy!

In Wonder, high angles are used effectively. For example, the director used a high angle while everybody is walking into class, Auggie is already there sitting at his desk. This shows that while Auggie is waiting for the class to start everybody is ignoring him/ judging him, which makes him feel left out. The director did this to make the audience share the same feelings as Auggie, as you can see what his feelings are from his facial expressions. Coinciding with this shot, the music is minor making the audience feel empathetic. This scene can be compared to a few moments after, when Auggie and his classmates are in P.E playing dodge-ball, and everyone is throwing the balls at him.

What am i learning?
I am learning to understand how the characters are developed in the film.

How does this show my learning?
This shows my learning because i am showing you some characters problems and how they react to them.

What am i wondering as a result of this learning?
I am wondering how long  it takes to put all of the make up ect, on Auggie's face before they film.

P.E - Work from home.

Since we are in lock  down and we are not aloud at school we got sent work to do. Our work for P.E was aimed at one sport of your choice and write about its history.
