Tea bag Experiment

Today in science we did an experiment lighter/matches and tea bags. We had to empty out a teabag and then light it up, on the top.

Aim: To observe convection in real life.

Equipment: Lighters, Matches, Tea bags, Heatmat,

Steps:
1- Get a tea bag and cut the top off.
2- Tip out the inside of the tea bag.
3- Stand the tea bag up on the heat mat.
4. Carefully light the top off it with the lighter/matches.
5- Watch it float up in the air.

Conclusion: I saw that as soon as the flame got to the bottom of the tea bag, and i watched it convect and increase in size. Convection is when something heats up it floats in the air, and when it cools down it goes back down.
