When do you hear this song?

  • On ANZAC Day (April 25th).

Why is this song significant/important to New Zealand?

  • They play The Last Post on ANZAC day for remembrance of the soldiers that died. 

What is the history behind the last post - why was it played and when?

  • The arrived at ANZAC cove at dawn, so when we have one or two minutes of silence, we do it when its morning so it will be dark. They would play this song to wake the soldiers up, get them ready for exercise and for lunch. 

What does this song represent? 

  • This song represents what happened in WW1. Remembrance of the soldiers.
